Project LIFTT (Learning Ignited by Families and Teachers Together!) kicked off this school year in six schools across Baltimore City. Project LIFTT is a parent engagement initiative designed to build capacity in schools, transform the school climate and culture, and build stronger relationships between parents and teachers.Parents volunteer in the classroom and participate in leadership development on a weekly basis, while teachers join us for the development trainings every other week.
LIFTT Team members from came together during the LIFTT orientation and kick-off training in mid-October, where they were able network and to visualize personal and city-wide change as a result of the program. One of our team members even let us know that he is now interested in pursuing a teaching degree! (A big THANK YOU to the Notre Dame of Maryland University for hosting the LIFTT Orientation this year.)
As the LIFTT Teams continue to strengthen their relationships in each school, they are also starting to plan their school development campaigns, which will involve the entire school in making a positive community impact. Look for an update on these campaigns soon!
